Logs should have less than 20% moisture level for a clean and efficient burn. As a result, you should keep your wood as clean, safe, and dry as possible.

What is the Best Method for Storing Firewood Outside?

You may be surprised to find out that the best way to store your wood is outside. To do this successfully you should store your wood tidily, with the outside of your firewood being exposed to the air for better ventilation. When doing this try to avoid piling your logs and don’t store them under tree cover. 

Is it Necessary to Cover Firewood?

Firewood should be left uncovered to dry properly. This is not always possible, particularly during the colder months when ice, snow, and rain can cause havoc on wood storage. Keeping this in mind, you should purchase a good cover to place over the top of your woodpile to defend it from the elements when necessary.

Is it Possible to Store Firewood on the Floor?

Firewood should always be stored off the ground as a general rule to allow for proper ventilation. A wooden pallet is a great way to store your wood.

Is Keeping wood in a Garage Acceptable?

If your firewood logs are already kiln-dried, you can store them in your garage without any bother. If you decide to purchase logs that aren’t kiln-dried, there will not be enough fresh and flowing air in your garage to help them dry out. 

Is it Acceptable to Assemble wood Near a Home?

All of your wood should be stored at least 20 feet away from your home’s front door. If you’re going to stack wood next to a structure, make sure it’s a few inches away from the structure to maximise airflow and ventilation.
